Attend the Derby

We can't wait to see you on Derby Day!

For our Derby first-timers, expect a parade-style event with spectators watching from the sidelines. The race starts near the intersection of Bryan Pl and Madison Ave in Decatur's Oakhurst neighborhood.

Bring blankets and chairs and enjoy the day!

We need volunteers! Please use our Contact form if you are interested in helping out with the Derby.

Under Georgia law, there is no liability for injury or death of an individual entering these premises if such injury or death results from the inherent risks of contracting COVID. You are assuming these risks by entering the premises. 

10:30 AM

Registration opens! Enter Madison Ave through Johnston Place and look for the registration tent. An adult must check in for their child regardless of team grouping. Waivers must be signed before you proceed.

11:00 AM

Food area opens!

12:00 PM

Judging begins: All derby cars should be parked in assigned space at the top of the street.

Racers should be with the cars to talk to the judges.

1:00 PM

Race: Heat #1 Begins

Racers Report to Start line at 12:50pm

1:45 PM

Race: Heat #2 Begins

Racers Report to Start Line at 1:35pm

2:30 PM

Race: Heat #3 Begins

Racers Report to Start Line at 2:20pm

3:15 PM

Race: Heat #4 Begins

Racers Report to Start Line at 3:05pm

4:00 PM

Adult Fun Run Begins!

Adult Racers Report to Start Line at 3:50pm

Awards Ceremony Begins!

Please stay to cheer on the racers and help us clean up Madison Avenue if you're available.

Enjoy a meal from the U Joint & Steinbeck's tent, then treat yourself to something sweet from King of Pops or our Bake Sales Tent.

Food options are available from 11:00 AM - 4:00 PM.

T-shirt pre-orders are exclusively available a few weeks before the derby. Shop now!


Street parking is limited. We encourage attendees to walk, bike, or take MARTA. The East Lake MARTA Station is half a mile from Madison Ave.
